PBL Care Limited are a Domiciliary Care Provider based in Birmingham. Since opening, they have been dedicated to providing a wide range of care and support services.
As well as providing Domiciliary Care to their local community, Qasim Bata and his team have been keen to offer further opportunities to young people in the form of training, work placements and Apprenticeships.
Our team first came into contact with Qasim, the Director, back in 2018 when they were contacting local businesses in Birmingham who they believed would be suitable for providing a work placement to our students on the Access To Employment Programme.
This programme aims to provide specialist training to young people who are in need of support with gaining employment after leaving School. To complete the programme, they are required to undergo a substantial work placement with an employer who can offer students experience in their chosen career choice.
PBL Care were quick to offer work experience opportunities at their Birmingham office, where they interviewed and took on multiple students for placement. As well as providing our students with valuable work experience, PBL Care also offered their personal guidance and support to students by understanding their barriers to work and helping them to adapt. Doing this enabled students to transform from being individuals who at first lacked confidence and work skills, to being individuals who were work ready, professional and most importantly, ready to progress onto the next stage of their career.
After successfully taking on 15 work experience students, PBL Care decided to offer one of our students the opportunity to complete an Apprenticeship with them. For Aleena Ali, this meant that she would be employed as a full-time member of staff whilst undergoing the Business Administration Apprenticeship programme at Level 2 and earning the Apprenticeship wage.
Since completing her Apprenticeship, Aleena has now progressed onto the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard, and is now a key member of the team who is taking on more responsibilities. PBL Care have now also taken on another Apprentice to support their business as it continues to grow.
PBL Care’s commitment to providing opportunities to young people through apprenticeships and training were then recognised at the 2019 Asian Apprenticeship Awards. They deservedly won the Health, Medical and Social Care Employer Category as well as being shortlisted as a Finalist for Small, Medium Employer of the Year.
Going forward, PBL Care are continuing to provide support and opportunities to young people in the local community. Whilst going through the current pandemic, they have also continued to grow their business as well as adapting their services to thrive in the new climate. We would like to share our thanks to Qasim and his team, for supporting many of our students and Apprentices through their learning journey over the past 2 years, and we look forward to continuing working together to help transform more lives.
