Jan. 8, 2021, 11:17 a.m.
Each month we like to celebrate the achievements of individual Apprentices who have gone over and above to achieve their qualification.

For the month of December, we have chosen Irine Nisar as a worthy winner. Irine has been presented with our Apprentice of the Month award, alongside a £10 Amazon Voucher.

Below, Irine has provided us with insight into how her Apprenticeship is going, as well as giving advice to anyone considering completing an Apprenticeship to kick-start their career.

1) What value has the apprenticeship programme brought to you so far?

This apprenticeship has helped me gain a qualification that I am extremely proud about. I’ve had a rough start as I started from scratch with no qualifications whatsoever and had been out of education for 5 years. This apprenticeship has helped me realise my potential and I am proud to have made the right choice.

2) Has it given you what you thought it would, so far – any surprises?

This apprenticeship has helped me develop the upmost confidence and had helped me learn to never underestimate yourself. I’ve developed from a learner into a professional which I didn’t think was possible. I am also thankful for the coursework aspect as I am confident with my knowledge and am able to apply it to my work everyday. I am even able to share up to date information with other staff.

3) What would you say to any apprentices considering an apprenticeship programme?

I would say to make use of the opportunity. It's a process that will aid you in your professional development. There’s so many positive outcomes in taking this route as it helps you develop knowledge, confidence and experience.

4) What knowledge and skills have your learnt so far on your apprenticeship journey?

I have learnt life changing knowledge which can help save people’s lives as these issues are particularly relevant to my job role. This includes in-depth studies on child abuse, child protection issues and other aspects of abuse including FGM. I have learnt how to spot early signs to be able to prevent further trauma on a child as well as an adult. These skills I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
