Apprentice of the Month: Georgia Lawrence

June 14, 2022, 2:55 p.m.
Each month we like to celebrate the achievements of individual Apprentices who have gone over and above to achieve their qualification.

For the month of May we have chosen Georgia Lawrence as a worthy winner. Georgia has been presented with our Apprentice of the Month award, alongside a £10 Amazon Voucher.

Georgia was GFT's first apprentice to achieve the Early Years Education Level 3 standard, and obtained a Distinction

Below, Georgia has provided us with insight into how their Apprenticeship is going, as well as giving advice to anyone considering completing an Apprenticeship to kick-start their career.

1. Tell me a little about why you wanted to complete this apprenticeship?

I wanted to complete the apprenticeship as I believed it would allow me to learn in the best way about my field as well as allow me to work alongside to gain the practical experience.

2. What value has the apprenticeship brought to you so far?

This apprenticeship programme has helped me to learn in a way that works for me, with tutors and people of importance always willing to help and teach in a way that works for the student. The programme has been great in helping me to have time to work as well as time to learn more about my job.

3. Has it given you what you thought it would, any surprises?

I believe my apprenticeship has given me what was expected, however I am happily surprised at how helpful my tutor has been in helping me to complete my qualifications as well as how understanding they have been if needs be.

4. What would you say to any apprentice considering doing an apprenticeship?

I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship programme as it allows you the opportunity to learn alongside getting the practical skills in your job.

5. What knowledge and skills have your learnt so far on your apprenticeship journey?

During my apprenticeship experience, I have developed excellent writing skills through my completion and review of assignments. I have also learned about all the areas of my field that I had hoped to such as, the EYFS, childhood development and how to work with colleagues and staff.
